The day was boring than usual. With a heavy bag on my shoulders I managed to run and catch a fast train to my place. Today, I witnessed a miracle happening. I got a seat within few minutes. I heaved a sigh of relief and smiled at the lady who was considerate enough to offer me a seat. Quickly I fetched my ‘handsfree’ and my book so as to kill the boredom. Soon the world around me seized to exist. After a few minutes I looked back to see a blind man coming towards my seat. I just removed the handsfree and tried to listen. He was humming an old and by all means a meaningful Hindi number “Dil sacha aur chehra jhoota”.
His soulful voice pierced through my ears. Some people were just too engrossed to adjust their handsfree according to the FM signals that they missed listening to his soulful voice. He sang the whole song and easily managed to replicate the magical nodes in the song. Some coins were thrown at him. He got down in the next station to fetch another compartment.
I also found myself fitting in my handsfree to enjoy the not so peppy number after he left. I realized that our life revolves around meaningless things. I was so eager to listen to lots of songs which has no quality to call it one. I listen to them because everyone else is doing so. I anyways have to kill time and what if I kill myself while doing so.
I reached my home and was fast asleep. The next morning was chilly. I managed to get out of the bed obstinately. Coffee was tastier than usual. May be I was happy to get a holiday after a long time and hence everything seemed to be just perfect. I enjoyed every sip of it while standing in the large balcony of my home. Suddenly I found something was missing. I couldn’t listen to birds chirping especially I couldn’t see my favourite bird ‘the sparrow’. I reached out for my mom and yes she also did not see any of them since a long time. This earth was too brutal for it to live a beautiful life.
I decided to go for a walk that morning. After a long walk, I saw a calf fetching water near the hand pump. Soon some school going kids ran out to help with the pump. It drank loads of water. Some started fiddling with its tail and then pelting stones on it. It cried for help and as usual its cries fell on deaf ears. Everyone including me was busy with ‘no work’.
We are nothing but self-obsessed individuals who are just ignorant to even look around. We ignore the people, voices and happenings all around. We fail to realize that we lonely souls need a ‘handsfree’ to walk around. Every minute we think about problems and hardships we face and easily ignore the other creature’s woes. We escape from listening to voices which are real and consider ourselves practical, commonsensical and rational. We are nothing but blissfully ignorant souls who can carry a bag loaded with books but fail to carry a piece of responsibility.
We are named the brainiest of all,
For us important are just phone call,
Hits head against the wall,
But money makes us do all,
We are the fiery fireball,
Soon we will witness our downfall!!!!
